Beekeeping became more than a hobby; it became my hands-on confirmation of what I’ve seen in the mirror for decades.

Back in the day, placing a hive in town seemed like a subpar choice compared to the farm. Fast forward forty years, and it’s a whole new ball game. My top-performing hives are the ones I keep near or in town. They might not churn out as much honey in the short term, but they are:

• Healthier.
• Better at overwintering.
• Require less feed.
• And consistently produce honey.
