THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR WESTERN AND CENTRAL WYOMING.
.DAY ONE…TODAY AND TONIGHT
Brace yourselves, folks! Tonight, some areas—especially in the cozy nooks of Sweetwater, Natrona, and Fremont Counties—are gearing up for their first freeze of the season..DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY
As we roll into the weekend and beyond, get ready for a sizzling combo of warm temperatures, crazy low humidity, and gusty winds. Fire weather might just take center stage.SATURDAY AND SUNDAY.
But hold onto your hats! There’s a storm system on the horizon, making an entrance on Sunday and sticking around for Labor Day. If you’re up in the mountains, don’t be surprised if you catch a glimpse of some snow Sunday night and Monday. Yep, even in Yellowstone National Park!
It feels like just yesterday that I was scribbling about the last snow warning. Can you believe it’s been three months since June 11th?
Around my beeyard, the alfalfa is throwing a full-on bloom party, covering hundreds of acres too short to cut. It’s starting to dish out some sweet nectar for my buzzing buddies. But any frost right now could shut down this nectar flow.
And if a deep freeze decides to crash the party, putting the brakes on rabbitbrush’s nectar and pollen production, my bees are in a tight spot. It’s a life-or-death scenario for them and an economic conundrum for me. Do I splurge on a thousand pounds of sugar to nurse them through winter, or do we hit the reset button next year?
This beekeeping year takes the cake for being the absolute worst. Thinking about keeping bees in Wyoming? Well, that’s a question I’ve got on repeat in my mind.
